
Kiku Johnson has been training adult and youth staff since 1994 in after/out of school time, in-service, weekend intensives, residential summer programming, parent/guardian and child groups/workshops, and conference intensive workshops across sectors of care including educator training, social emotional learning (SEL), college/career preparation, STEM, restorative justice programs, adventure-based, and educational theater. He has trained on topics including Effective Youth Development Practices, Cultural Awareness/Responsiveness, Building Effective Teams, Leadership Styles, Restorative Healing Circles, How to Run Focus Groups, CPS/Mandated Reporting, Fixed and Growth Mindset, Responding to Challenging Behavior, Design Thinking/Human Centered Design Process, Administering Effective Evaluation, Approach to Supervision, and Women’s Leadership as examples. Kiku has spoken, presented, and engaged rooms of 5 to 400 people with diverse and intersectional identities culturally, with varying roles, age, gender, and sexuality. His approach is culturally informed, responsive, and human centered. Kiku hails from a visual arts background engaging art mediums including photography, drawing, stained glass and mosaics with youth and resides in East Oakland, California.
