Following high school, Dr. Mike Steele enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. During his time in the Corps, Mike spent the majority of time in training, eventually becoming a combat swimming instructor. After his honorable discharge, Mike completed a law enforcement training academy in Florida and worked as a deputy sheriff for ten years. During his tenure as a law enforcement officer, Dr. Steele served on road patrol, and he served as a field training officer, auto theft detective, and member of the S.W.A.T team. Mike is also certified as a hostage negotiator, firearms instructor, and critical incident stress counselor. In his last few years of service, and before changing careers, Mike was a school resource officer. Mike has an earned doctorate in leadership, a master’s degree in psychology and counseling, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Mike presents nationally and internationally on various topics including school safety, leadership, and bullying to name a few. Dr. Steele enjoys spending time with his family, motivational speaking, and staying physically fit. Mike has been married for 26 years. He and his wife, Joyce, have four amazing children and three beautiful grandchildren.

Authentic and courageous leadership is at the forefront in the fight to keep our staff and students safe. OoRah leadership examines what leadership is required to train survivors and lead warriors. This presentation will examine and confront participants with outstanding leadership and flawed leadership.
